Memorial Day Parade

Taps as Holden Cemetery 2011The rain cleared up just in time for the Holden, MA Memorial Day to step off under beautiful skies this past Monday May 30, 2011. Spirit of America was once again able to participate in the city of Holden’s wonderful tribute to servicemen and women past and present.

Five short ceremonies were held at cemeteries and memorials around the center of town. Words of tribute and remembrance were offered, songs were sung, Holden’s police honor guard fired in salute, and Taps was played at each location. At the final ceremony the band played the national anthem,  a wreath was laid in honor of those who have died, and a moving speech was given by veteran and parade chairman Brooks Webster.
