2010: United States
June 26–July 11
Spirit of America performed Exploration! This hour-long story of courage, perseverance and hope combined music-in-motion, dance, costumes, and set, on a football field-sized stage. Exploration told the story of a young photographer from the mid-West, who comes to New York City to make her way in life. When she loses her spark of inspiration – her stardust – she is taken on a fantastical journey, and meets famous explorers and historical figures who give her just what she needs to regain her integrity and purpose. Audiences saw the field transformed from the bustling streets of New York City, to the underwater kingdom of Jacques Cousteau, to the explosive workshop of Leonardo DaVinci, and beyond!
